In the wee small hours of the morning today, May 29, 2024, Illinois’ Amendment to Senate Bill 776 (Amendment) died by virtue of not getting heard. This bill looked and sounded like a death knell to the state’s hemp industry. Now, the largest beneficiary of the Amendment, the state’s marijuana industry is reeling.
Technically still alive and subject to the state’s “veto session” later this year, the Amendment would have ushered many hemp-derived products onto the shelves of state-licensed dispensaries. That said, the Illinois hemp industry rallied together and worked collectively against this Amendment to keep its livelihood alive.
As mentioned above, the fight is not over, and the Illinois hemp industry and its members still need your support to ensure appropriate regulations are put in place to govern hemp and hemp-derived products. Join MC Nutraceuticals and American Healthy Alternatives Association (AHAA) in supporting these causes as the future of the Illinois hemp industry depends on it.
